Nonprofit groups Added jobs during the recession

According to an analysis of government data from 21 states by the Johns Hopkins University Center for Civil Society Studies, for-profit businesses lost jobs at an average rate of 3.3% a year during the current recession, while nonprofits added jobs at an average of 2.5% a year.

And arts and entertainment nonprofits added jobs at an even higher rate, at an average of 4.6% a year, despite not having received a “significant share” of economic stimulus money from the federal government.
